Comfort Dog Ministry

Thrift Store, Food Pantry, and Emergency Assistance

Greetings from the Comfort Dog Team!

We wanted to share an update on our Comfort Dog ministry with our church family. When we started this journey, we knew we had a long wait. The 2,000 hours of training that each Comfort Dog must have is a slow process.  Eighteen months to two years is the normal time frame. We entered the waiting process in January of 2018, so our time is coming!  While some congregations have received their dogs on the shorter end of this time frame, most do not.

But, we have been busy!  We have spent these months building our core team of handlers and caregivers. We meet monthly at this time for team building, learning and prayer. We have attended regional and national ministry meetings, all in preparation for moving our ministry forward. We have, with enormous generosity of our church and some community organizations, raised the necessary money to complete the funding of our dog. We have shelves full of pet supplies ready to be put to use from our puppy shower!

So, while this wait is hard, we continue to work behind the scene to better ourselves to serve in this ministry. When it will happen is known only to God, for His timing is perfect.

Proverbs 16:9 says, “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”

If you have any questions or would like to know more about being a part of our team, please let me know: we have a place for you!

May Grace and Blessings be in Your Path,

Debbie Graf
